These uterus/ovaries earrings were created as a symbol of survival for those who have (or have had) a uterus/ovaries.
These tiny uterus/ovaries post earrings have been hand drawn, sanded, anodized into color, assembled and finished by artist Jessie Moench.
Body Talk Jewlery posts are made of titanium to be allergen safe, light weight and durable. Metal is colored by the artist using an anodizing process.
Each uterus/ovaries post earrings purchase comes with an artist statement as follows:
I drew the uterus/ovaries design & the “rest in peace” uterus/ovaries design to honor the story & loss of my ovaries, uterus, & cervix due to endometriosis.
I first for my period at the age of 12 & suffered from severe cramping pain every month, progressing in intensity over the years to the point where I was bedridden at least 2 weeks/month. I saw doctor after doctor over 14 years as I looked for help. I had 2 major surgeries for ovarian cysts, but my pain got worse over time. I turned online to a chronically ill community that told me about a condition I may have: endometriosis. They connected me to a rarity: a doctor qualified to give me a diagnosis/surgical treatment for endometriosis & the only specialist in the state. By the time I got my surgery, the damage was so severe I had to have a complete hysterectomy that put me into menopause at age 33.
I became debilitated from the hormonal change of surgical menopause. I went online once again where my chronically ill community taught me about Pelvic Floor Therapy & Hormone Replacement Therapy. It took me two years+ in PFT treatment to heal & years to find a HRT specialist that balanced my hormones with estrogen therapy.
For so long I kept my story of my illnesses quiet. It was when I began sharing my story that I found a community of others who had also been suffering in silence, eager for relief but with nowhere to turn. A community that helps each other by telling their stories & how they survived it all. The very community that taught me about endometriosis & HRT that saved my body & my life.
I created Body Talk Jewelry to continue the conversation around the very thing we are told to keep quiet about - our bodies & how we heal them.
Let us no longer stay silent about what it means to have & heal our bodies. May this jewelry serve as a reminder of a few things my body has taught me: Be grateful for your beautiful body, even when it hurts. You, even at your most vulnerable, are deserving of love. Speak your story, even when your voice shakes & breaks. Love yourself, scars & all.

Uterus/Ovaries Post Earrings
Body Talk jewelry that is colored is made from titanium - a lightweight durable metal.
Colors on titanium pieces are created through anodizing - a process where titanium pieces are dipped into a chemical solution. Electric currents are sent through the solution using an anodizing device, which results in the submerged titanium changing color. You may see slight variances in color or tone due to this hand done process.
Each color is custom and hand created, so pieces may vary slightly in appearance or tone. Color may be scratched since it is on the outer layer of the metal.
Use a soft cloth and household cleaner to wipe off fingerprints and oil marks from titanium to restore brightness.
All packaging is made from paper to reduce the environmental impact of our products.
